Project Update
As I look at my project goal of course it is ludicrous in scope. Somehow I thought I could learn new ways of connecting and develop all the things I wanted to have ready for teachers and kids all in one week.
So now I’ve revised my expectations a bit. I have spent time looking at the blogs and wikis I have started in the past and I think I’m pulling it together. I love this new (as in its infancy) blog. The additions to edublogs in the past year are amazing. James Farmer’s videos on the support site helped me learn to use all the tabs across the top of each Dashboard tab. This morning I came in and worked with several others on the idea of setting up Pages as static content so that the we can have those all well as posts.
Mike showed me the embed text for placing slide shows of photos on my school web pages so now I know how to do that. I have been learning and trying so many new things. Now I need to settle down and focus on what I will share with others and take away tomorrow. I know it will be far from “finished” and I think it will be focused on this blog as my site for connecting and collaborating with K-4 teachers.

Hi Cathy,
I like your idea of using a blog to connect and collaborate with K-4 educators. I like the template that you used for this blog, especially the tabs at the top that help you navigate the space. I too am interested in creating a blog for our learning area (9-12) that also connects us with the middle school (5-8) and will be looking at examples that are already out there.
Thanks for your help this week answering questions and sharing resources. Good luck with your course next week.
Cathy,
There are videos about all the tabs? I had no idea! I’ll have to check those out.
Good luck putting all of your disparate online lives together. I can easily see the potential for leaving threads here and there on the Read/Write Web.
See you next week,
Theresa
Cathy,
I’m always saying I’ve got to get organized, but I’m never quite there. I love your plan to organize everything through your blogs. I’ve bookmarked the videos and as I plan to have my kids set up blogs, as well as set up a class blog, I’m sure I’ll come back to that link time and again. Maybe instead of attacking that mountain of paperwork in my guest room, I’ll start organizing on line instead. Wouldn’t it be lovely to be paperless?
Cathy
I love the look and feel (and url) of your blog. it feels so professional and that is so nice to see. It’s taken me quite a while to dsicover just some of the ins andd out of moidifying the templates. You seem to have mastered it! I too see this as an amazing resource to bring all of my sites, resources, hadnouts, trainings, et etc together to one place. I can’t wait to get our teachers at King comfortable with learning about all this for their own classrooom use as well. It was great being in class with you. Thank you for all your great tips along the way. The static page one was big for me too.
