Response to David Warlick’s 2¢ Worth blog

Published by Cathy Wolinsky at 3:24 pm under Courses, Professional and tagged: , ,

I could read this blog every day and have 6 new things to try!! Today he wrote about a virtual presentation he did for teachers using Skype and iSight following up with SlideShare a podcast and posting to a wiki–wow! I can almost follow how to do that, but it is a bit mindblowing.

Mike Arsenault mentioned that slideshare.net is adding podcasting to slideshows and indeed theyn now have “slidecasts” which allow to upload each one and the soundtrack will accompany the slides. I love this for kids who are using digital cameras and iPods with recorders to be able to post their work online.

I read about that virtual presentation, too and also found it to be a very “wow” – maybe this will lead to the end of those big classes in lecture halls… Everyone will stay in their pj’s in the dorms and just log in to one of these. I’ve used a digital camera for the first time this summer and made a number book for my kindergarten class using iPhoto. I hope to make more of these and maybe slide shows – but I don’t think I’m ready for more than that!

I was lucky enough to be in a workshop with Dave Warlick earlier this year. He was showing us how RSS worked.
He challenged us to leap from our chairs and go Whoo Hoo when we found out something WOW. I wanted to but I was too shy.

I sent him an email later though. I should have been braver!
